Join us for a very special free performance by Hannah Epperson with opener Miyaxx, put on in collaboration with PS21, Chatham’s premier avant-garde performing arts institution!
Space is very limited for this show, so please reserve your spot through PS21’s page:
Only partially classically trained and mostly left to the wilderness of musical cross-pollination, Hannah Epperson creates immersive songscapes using violin, loop pedal, voice, and innovative rhythmic improvisations with proximate objects. She has worked in studio and on stage with artists such as Fleet Foxes, Dirty Projectors, Ry X, Julianna Barwick and Canadian spoken word artist Shane Koyczan, and has performed at jazz and electronica, folk, art, new music, and rock festivals. A natural boundary crosser, Hannah has been called a neo-classical composer and musician, indie folk/rocker, and avant-garde pop artist. As a companion in musical experience, she is powerful yet playful and gentle, often exploring the essential cultural and political matters of our age without ever leaving the miracle of the commonplace behind.
Miyaxx (mee-yahx) is the new project of songwriter Lea Thomas and artist/producer John Thayer (Ezra Feinberg, Arp, YAI). Currently based in the Catskill Mountains of New York, their sound, described as “nighttime fuzz folk,” is a distinct union of each of their strengths.
Free and open to the public. Seating is very limited, so please make a free reservation.
Coffee, tea, and records available to purchase from Stonykill Coffee & Records.
Hannah Epperson is in residence at PS21 to create Catenary, a new interdisciplinary work with choreographer Rebecca Margolick and composer/pianist/electronic musician Niloufar Nourbakhsh.
Don’t miss the world premiere of Catenary at PS21 on Saturday, November 8 at 7:30 and Sunday, November 9, at 3:00. More info and tickets can be found here.
